Angelo Fernandez, Fine Artist
As a child during World War II, Angelo drew cartoons of persons in the Newsreels. He was given a set of Pastels. Not knowing how to use them, he cherished them and put them away until 1952 when he was introduced to pastels, charcoal, watercolor, and oil paints in art appreciation classes. He never put these media aside since! Angelo’s preferred subject is the human form in portraiture and figurative paintings. He paints all subjects in the classical, realistic style.
Artist Statement
For me, “art” is creating beauty through my intuitive and expressive process which leads to painting life’s features that have personal and particular meaning. Everywhere I see something beautiful or interesting and worth capturing on my “canvas”. I am a self-taught fine art painter that was introduced to oil painting in Junior High School and I have never put this media aside since. Via exposure to the other media, I learned there is none which I do not love to work with. All media have their capabilities and limitations! I learn how each best serves my particular artistic enterprise and, then, choose the media that best expresses the art vision.
